Primary Function:

  • Manage quality assurance and quality teams for the site.
  • Work with production areas to meet BGF and customer requirements.
  • Provide direction to production areas to improve processes through personnel, training, computer systems and equipment. 
  • Develop KPI’s and SPC’s for manufacturing areas for daily, weekly and monthly use.
  • Oversee customer claims and corrective action responses.

Job Responsibilities:

  • BGF representative for customer audits of the Altavista Site.
  • Communicate with customers related to quality issues or process improvements, work with customers on specification review.
  • Perform site visits to customers, suppliers and sub-contractors on an as needed basis.
  • Must be a trained ISO 9001 internal auditor.
  • Communication and management of Altavista site labs, daily communication with lab supervisor on quality concerns and personnel matters.
  • Maintain assigned areas of responsibility in a clean, neat, orderly manner, so that the work area will reflect a safe and healthful work environment.
  • Meet with Altavista Site Manager, on an as needed basis, to communicate on a variety of subjects but specifically: Safety, Quality, Production, Production Scheduling and equipment requirements.
  • Perform appropriate written documentation related to attendance, job performance, training or employee issues.
  • Develop SPC and control data tools and reporting to assist manufacturing areas in daily operations.
  • Walk the production floor, observing and communicating with area personnel, reviewing material in production, staged or completed.
  • Lead & coordinate yearly management review meetings for the Altavista site.
  • Perform oversite & management of all QA systems for the Altavista site including PCR's, Calibration and CAR's
  • Communicate Quality performance to manufacturing areas to aid in corrective action and continuous improvement.
  • Lead & assist in quality problem investigations and resolutions.
  • Maintain Quality Control systems to ensure product meets the Customer and BGF requirements.
  • Manage & update as needed M3 attribute information for the Altavista site.
  • Oversite of customer claims, returns and credit approvals.
  • Oversite of customer item connections in M3.
  • Oversite of specification creation in M3 QMS and upload to BGF intranet.
  • Provide & present KPI measurables related to quality for the Altavista site for monthly S&OP meetings.

Environmental/Safety Risk:

Exposure to fiberglass, fly, dust, finishing fumes or other chemicals. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment as required, based on job assignment.

Prerequisites: Must be able to show communication and problem-solving skills, must be able to manage and coordinate projects and personnel.

Mandatory Qualifications: Bachelors of Science in Engineering or Scientific Discipline.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma
  • AS9100 Lead Auditor
  • ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor
  • 2-3 years’ experience in the aerospace industry

(X)MOVING-Throughout the plant, may also be requested to conduct official business as directed by job or Quality Director. Frequency may be up to 30 times per shift and travel may be up to 1200 feet in one direction.
(X)CLIMBING-As required to move from one level to another. Frequency depends on assignment, but may be up to 50 times per shift.
(X)LIFTING-As required to assist employees in their performance of jobs. Some objects may weigh up to 2000 pounds. Objects that weigh more than 50 pounds will require personal or mechanical assistance. Frequency may be up to 100 times per shift.
(X)PUSHING/PULLING-Objects to assist employee in running job. Frequency may be up to 500 times per shift. Some objects may weigh up to 2000 pounds.
(X)REACHING-Reaching through three body zones and around body. Frequency may be up to 200 times per shift. Some objects may weigh up to 35 pounds.
(X)VISUAL ACUITY-Sufficient to detect and recognize typical fabric defects. Minimum of 20/40 correctable eyesight.
(X)BENDING/STOOPING-Depending on job assignment, the frequency may be up to 100 times per shift.
(X)HEARING-Adequate to communicate over the phone
(X)OTHER-May be required to operate an automobile. May be required to travel to customers, vendors or other company locations.
