PRIMARY FUNCTION: Meet manufacturing goals while maintaining a safe and healthful work environment. Provide primary Customer support / liaison. Provide direct support to Manufacturing process Engineers. Work with R&D staff as necessary to resolve product chemistry or product development applications. Coordinate machinery installation and program launches. Lead process improvement efforts for cost and quality improvements.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 
*1.For assigned customer and product base develop Customer Requirements Criteria.
Work with CAD program to draw customer parts and order tooling
Supply IE with necessary information to set up new items
Gatekeeper for Project Management software tracking with all new products from quote to launch
*2.Develop, maintain and implement set up sheets for production lines as they relate to process, production efficiencies and quality.
*3.Monitor and report quality trends for product.
*4.Develop, write, maintain and aid in implementation of all manufacturing work instructions.
*5.Write and respond to CAR’s directly related to Nonwovens.
*6.Aid in development and engineering of new and existing equipment.
*7.Schedule and follow trials as requested from marketing and customers.
*8.Develop and maintain process capabilities as they relate to customer requirements.
*9.Translate and communicate Customer Product Requirements into BGF product terminology.
*10.For assigned products develop Critical Product Characteristics and measurements.
*11.Work with Manufacturing Manager –Parts Plant to develop Key Process Characteristics to be measured and controlled to produce product characteristics required.
*12.Provide input to Manufacturing Manager –Parts Plant during establishment of Key Process Measurements and allowed tolerances.
*13.Provide input into Control Plan development and operator response to process signals.
*14.For assigned styles/ products Develop and Monitor Key Product Parameters.
*15.For assigned products and customers, constantly monitor product performance relative to customer requirements and communicate results to manufacturing Process Engineering.
*16.Provide primary liaison between the Customer and BGF: communicate problems/ complaints, return authorization, coordinate credit approvals, product trial / evaluation results, product specification approval and maintenance, primary on site customer response.
17.Perform any other assignments as directed by Manufacturing Manager –Parts Plant.
*18.Responsible for oversight of all program launches and machinery installations.
*19.Responsible for process improvement as related to throughput, yield, and quality.
*20.Aids in trouble shooting with Process Engineer I and on-site technicians.
*21.Responsible for resolution and corrective actions pertaining to quality issues.

(X)SITTING-As required to perform assigned task. Frequency may be up to 50 times per shift.
(X)MOVING-Throughout department, may also be requested to visit other departments or to conduct official business as directed by job or by immediate manager. Frequency may be up to 30 times per shift and travel may be up to 1200 feet in one direction.
(X)CLIMBING-As required to move from one level to another. Frequency depends on assignment, but may be up to 50 times per shift. Required to climb stairs, ladders or caged ladders.
(X)LIFTING-As required to assist employees in their performance of jobs.  Some objects may weigh up to 2000 pounds. Objects that weigh more than 50 pounds will require assistance. Frequency may be up to 100 times per shift.
(X)PUSHING/PULLING-Objects to assist employee in running job. Frequency may be up to 500 times per shift. Some objects may weigh up to 2000 pounds.
(X)REACHING-Reaching through three body zones and around body. Frequency may be up to 200 times per shift. Some objects may weigh up to 35 pounds.
(X)VISUAL ACUITY-Prepare data and input to computer, requires good vision and dexterity for hand input on data keyboard and PC screen. Up to 20/40 correctable eyesight.
(X)BENDING/STOOPING-Depending on job assignment, the frequency may be up to 100 times per shift.
(X)HEARING-Adequate to communicate over the phone
(X)OTHER-May be required to operate an automobile or pickup truck, an industrial truck, a walkie powered truck or similar device. Frequency may be up to 20 times per shift.
 
ENVIRONMENTAL/SAFETY RISK REQUIREMENTS:  Exposure to fiberglass, fly, dust, finishing fumes or other chemicals. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment as required, based on job assignment.
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or related field experience; experience in technical and customer service; automotive industry experience, and CAD design preferred.
 
MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS:  Degree in engineering discipline, training / experience in Statistical Process Control Techniques, Computer literate with ability to learn new software, must display the skills necessary to communicate with a diverse group of employees/ customers and demonstrate technical writing skills.

Location: 
This job is an on-site position and requires 5 days at our Blue Ridge Plant in Altavista, Virginia.
